Major Performances for Instrumental Music Program (2013-2014)

*Students must remember that all performances are mandatory. The exact date for all OMEA performances are not given to the participating schools until approximately 1 week before the scheduled event. Students must be available for all of the indicated dates.*

December 12, 7:00 PM – Winter Concert (Orchestra, Symphonic Band, Concert Band)

December 16, 7:00PM – Full orchestra at choir concert

February 1 – OMEA Solo & Ensemble Contest – Interested Students

February 21 & 22 – OMEA State Orchestra Contest (Strings)

February 27, 7:00 PM – Instrumental Concert (Orchestra, Symphonic Band, Concert Band)

March 7 & 8 – OMEA District Band Contest (Symphonic Band, Concert Band)

April 25 & 26 – OMEA State Band Contest (Symphonic Band, Concert Band)

May 10 – Music a la Mode (all ensembles, all day)

May 26, 10:00 AM – Memorial Day Parade (Symphonic Band, Concert Band, all Auxiliaries)

May 29, 6:00 PM – Instrumental Music Awards Banquet (Wagner’s Country Inn)

June 7, 10:00 AM – Commencement (Symphonic Band, Concert Band)

Pep Band Schedule

These are the games that the pep band will be playing at during this year’s boys basketball season. All games are home games, and students are to report to the stage no later than 6:15 PM).

Marching Band Rehearsal Schedule (October 28 – November 1)

Monday, October 28th – The instrumentalists will be dismissed at the end of the school day.  Debonaires and Demonettes will stay until 4:00 p.m. to learn routine to ‘Thriller.’

 

Tuesday, October 29th – Everyone will rehearse until 3:30 p.m. today.  Debonaires and Demonettes will stay until 4:00 p.m. to review ‘Thriller.’

 

Wednesday, October 30th – No rehearsal today for the instrumentalists.  The Demonettes and Debonaires will rehearse after school or in the evening to polish all of the routines.  I will be listening to auditions in the PAC.

 

Thursday, October 24th – Everyone will rehearse until the end of the school day.  Demonettes and Debonaires will stay until at least 3:30 p.m. to polish ‘Thriller.’

 

Friday, Novemeber 1st – All students are reminded to arrive at the high school no later than 4:45 p.m. today for the game at Brecksville.  Students are reminded that we are dressing up for Halloween from the neck……………up!  We have discussed this many times in class as to what is appropriate.  We will be arriving back late on Friday following the game.  Please make sure the students eat something before reporting to the high school on Friday evening.

Marching Band Rehearsal Schedule (October 21 – October 25)

Monday, October 21st – The entire band is staying after school today until 3:30 p.m. to finish the senior show.  Seniors will need to stay longer for instructions concerning recognition during this Friday’s pregame.

 Tuesday, October 22nd – Everyone will rehearse until 3:30 p.m. today.  Debonaires and Demonettes will stay until 4:00 p.m. to review “Think” and polish the swing flag routine to “Karn Evil Nine.”

Wednesday, October 23rd – No rehearsal today due to ‘Halloween Fun Night.’

Thursday, October 24th – Everyone will rehearse until 3:30 p.m. so the senior show will be ready.  Demonettes and Debonaires will stay until 4:00 p.m.

 Friday, October 25th – All students will be dismissed at the end of the school day.  Tonight’s pot-luck dinner starts at 4:45 p.m. in the cafeteria.  The information was sent home with the students on Friday night following the game.  Parent help is still needed for this event.  Students will need to be dressed in their uniforms BEFORE 6:15 p.m. following the dinner.  Parents of senior students are reminded to be on the track at the stadium BEFORE 6:40 p.m.  Ask your son or daughter which yard line you will be near.
