Excellent performances on Friday! Thank you to the many students who helped out with the “Blitz Day” on Saturday! The day was very successful.

Monday, October 11th – Everyone will be finished at the end of the school day. We all need the rest!

Tuesday, October 12th – The instrumentalists will be finished at 3:00 p.m. today. The aux. should end no later than 3:45 p.m. The drum line will practice with John until 4:00 p.m.

Wednesday, October 13th – We DO have rehearsal during the day today. There is no block schedule this week because of testing. Remember to have your instrument in school today. Full band rehearsal at the stadium begins at 5:45 p.m. tonight. Remember to wear a white t-shirt. We will be finished before 8:00 p.m.

Thursday, October 14th – Everyone will be finished at 2:30 p.m. today because of the Midpark Band Festival this evening. All students must be dressed in their uniforms by 5:30 p.m. in preparation for tonight’s festival. The festival begins at 7:00 p.m. at Finnie Stadium on the campus of Baldwin-Wallace College. Westlake performs third out of five bands on the program. There will be a “Parade of Bands” around the track prior to the beginning of the event. Please encourage your parents, relatives, and friends to attend this festival! Parents…………please pick your son or daughter up at the high school no later than 10:00 p.m. tonight. Thank you!

Friday, October 15th - No school during the day today! We are performing at the Yunaska residence prior to leaving for the football game at Avon Lake. The Yunaska’s are the winners of the “Win the Band” raffle. All students are to be dressed in their uniforms before 4:45 p.m. today so that we have enough time to travel to the Yunaska’s, perform in their neighborhood, and then travel to Avon Lake. Please be sure to eat something before you report to the high school. Parents…………..please pick your son or daughter up at the high school no later than 10:30 p.m. tonight. Thank you!

Monday, October 18th – The instrumentalists will be finished at 2:30 p.m. today. The aux. will practice until 3:30 p.m. (Our indoor concert is later this week.) The end is near!!!!!!!!!!

Nice job again Friday night!

Remember to keep selling the restaurant certificates. They are all due on Thursday, October 7th. Students receive ten dollars credit for each certificate that they sell. Our “blitz day” will be this Saturday morning.

Monday, October 4th – Instrumentalists will be finished at the end of the school day. Aux. members will end at 3:30 p.m. Routines to several stand tunes must be learned today. The captains made the routines over the weekend. Please review “She’s Not There” and “Poker Face” for Channel 8 this weekend.

Tuesday, October 5th – Full band rehearsal will end at 3:00 p.m. today. Aux. members and the drum line will stay until 4:00 p.m. Representatives from the Music Boosters will be at rehearsal this afternoon to sell tickets for the “Win the Band” raffle. The winning ticket will be pulled and announced at the game on Friday night.

Wednesday, October 6th – Rehearsal at the stadium this evening begins at 5:45 p.m. Remember to wear a white t-shirt. We need to polish ALL of our music for the early morning performance on Friday. Rehearsal will end at 8:00 p.m. Use the PAC doors to enter and exit the building. Parent-teacher conferences are being held in the cafeteria and library.

Thursday, October 7th – Full band rehearsal will end at 2:30 p.m. today. Aux. members and the drum line will stay until 3:30 p.m. Go to bed early tonight!!!

Friday, October 8th – All students must be dressed and seated in the band room at 5:30 a.m. YES…………..5:30 a.m.!!! Do not arrive at the high school any earlier than 5:10 a.m. We will be recorded live by Channel 8 in front of the Rock n’ Roll Hall of Fame. The weather is looking good for Friday morning. Be sure to eat something before you leave home in the morning. The Music Boosters will have a light breakfast for everyone in the PAC lobby when we arrive back at the high school. We should return back to the high school at approximately 9:45 a.m. Remember to bring everything to school that you need with your uniform (black shoes, black socks, gloves, etc.) Our first performance for the Fox 8 Newscast will be at 6:55 a.m. We need to be warmed up and ready to go at 6:30 a.m.

Students are to be dressed in their uniforms no later than 6:30 p.m. for this evening’s home game against Olmsted Falls. Sophomores and seniors are to bring cookies for the after halftime snack. All students should be picked up no later than 10:00 p.m. following tonight’s game.

Saturday, October 9th – “Blitz Day!” Students are to arrive at the high school before 9:00 a.m. Wear something that says ‘Westlake’ on it. Students will be in small groups selling the restaurant certificates in the community. All students have the opportunity to win $300.00 today! Lunch will be provided for everyone at noon. The day will end at approximately 1:00 p.m. We could use several parents to help drive some of the younger students to the neighborhoods.

*Our second band festival of the season is scheduled for this Thursday, October 14th. (This is on the schedule that was distributed in May!) This festival is hosted by Midpark High School and is held at Finnie Stadium on the campus of Baldwin-Wallace College. The festival begins at 7:00 p.m. There is no school on Friday, October 15th.
