Great job on both Friday and Saturday! I was proud of your performance on the field as well as your excellent behavior in the stands at both the festival and the football game!

The season is half over! Can you believe it? Continue to practice your audition music!

I would like to perform “”Bad Medicine” in place of “Poker Face” in this week’s halftime. We will do “Sweet Caroline again if we speed up the announcements in the entire show.

Monday, September 27th:
Rehearsal will end at the conclusion of the school day for the instrumentalists. The aux. must stay until at least 3:30 p.m. today to learn “Bad Medicine.” The routine should be finished and at least ‘acceptable’ before leaving today.

Tuesday, September 28th:
Full band rehearsal will end at 3:00 p.m. today. Aux. will stay until 4:00 p.m. “Bad Medicine” must be ‘polished’ before everyone leaves today. Percussion will also stay with John until 4:00 p.m.

Wednesday, September 29th:
Rehearsal at the stadium tonight begins at 5:45 p.m. Remember to wear your white t-shirt.

Thursday, September 30th:
Full band rehearsal will end at the conclusion of the school day. Aux. should be finished by 3:30 p.m. The percussion will also rehearse until 3:30 p.m. with John.

Friday, October 1st:
Rehearsal will end at 2:30 p.m. for everyone. All students must be dressed BEFORE 6:15 p.m. tonight for the game in North Olmsted. Parents should pick up the students no later than 10:30 p.m. at the HS following the game.

Monday, October 4th:
Rehearsal will end at 2:30 p.m. for the instrumentalists. The aux. will stay until 3:30 p.m. to learn short routines to some of the stand songs in preparation for Friday morning’s performance at Channel 8.

Monday, September 20th – Rehearsal will end at 2:30 p.m. for everyone today. There will be a brief meeting with all of the seniors immediately after school today.

Tuesday, September 21st – Full band rehearsal will continue until 3:00 p.m. today. We must learn away pregame. This week’s show is the opener, “Poker Face, Sweet Caroline, and Desperado.” The aux. and percussion will continue to practice until 4:00 p.m. today.

Wednesday, September 22nd – No rehearsal during the school day. Evening rehearsal begins at 5:45 p.m. Wear white t-shirts. This is important so that the formations can be fixed. The seating at the band festival is very high and the designs on the field can be seen much better than at the football games.

Thursday, September 23rd – Full band rehearsal will end at 2:30 p.m. today. The aux. and percussion will continue to practice until 3:30 p.m.

Friday, September 24th – Rehearsal will end at the conclusion of the school day. All students must be dressed in their uniform before 5:30 p.m. for tonight’s game in Amherst. Students should be ready to be picked up by 10:45 p.m. following the game.

Saturday, September 25th – All students must be dressed in their uniform before 5:30 p.m. for the band festival in Parma. The festival begins at 7:00 p.m. and will feature eight area bands including the College of Wooster. Several Westlake graduates are marching in the band this evening. Please encourage at least four people to attend the festival. Ask them to sit near the fifty yard line and wear Westlake “green” to the festival. Westlake will be the fourth band performing Saturday night.

Schedule for Monday, September 13 to Monday, September 20th:

Monday, September 13 – Rehearsal will end at the conclusion of the school day. Demonettes, Debonaires, and Majorettes will practice until 3:30 p.m. Learn the routine to “Sweet Caroline.” This week’s show is the opener, “She’s Not There, Sweet Caroline, and Desperado.”

Tuesday, September 14 – Band rehearsal will end at 3:00 p.m. today. Aux. will practice until 4:00 p.m. We must also rehearse for the Homecoming Parade today.

Wednesday, September 15 – No class during the school day. Our evening rehearsal at the stadium begins at 5:45 p.m. Remember to wear a white t-shirt to rehearsal. Aux. must also dress the same. Aux. should rehearse on the practice field while we work on music inside.

Thursday, September 16 – Rehearsal will end at 3:00 p.m. today. The Homecoming Court will be coming out to practice pregame with us. The aux. should be finished by 3:45 p.m.

Friday, September 17 – Rehearsal will end at the conclusion of the school day for everyone. We probably will not rehearse outside today because of the Homecoming Assembly. The Jazz Ensemble will be performing this afternoon. Students are to be dressed in their uniforms no later than 5:15 p.m. in preparation for the Homecoming Parade. I suggest arriving before 5:00 p.m. Freshmen and Juniors are to bring cookies for the after halftime snack. The Music Boosters will be providing pizza, salad, and drinks for the members of the band after the parade in the PAC lobby. Students should be picked up no later than 10:00 p.m. at the high school after the game is over.

A few concerns:

1. A few students do not understand what small, post earrings are. If this is a problem again this week, earrings will not be permitted for anyone the rest of the season.
2. Students are to wear SHORTS under their uniform. Long pants or jeans stick out.

Monday, September 20th – Rehearsal will end at 2:30 p.m. for everyone. Go home……….we all need a break! I would like to have a brief meeting with the senior class at 2:30 p.m. for approximately fifteen minutes.

THE PARMA BAND FESTIVAL IS THIS SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 25TH. WE NEED TO PACK BYERS FIELD FOR THIS PERFORMANCE! MORE INFORMATION WILL BE SENT OUT NEXT WEEK.
