’09-’10 Recordings

The quality of WHS’s instrumental music ensembles was outstanding last year, so last May, Mr. Walczuk had recordings made of the Symphonic Band, Orchestra, and Jazz I. These recordings are now available for listening and downloading on this website. Be sure to leave a comment on what you think!

- Rehearsal will end at the conclusion of the school day (2:30 p.m.) for all instrumentalists. Demonettes and Debonaires will continue to practice until 3:30 p.m. (Work on “She’s Not There”) If the Majorettes are not meeting with Kelly tonight, they also are to continue to practice after school.

Tuesday, August 31st:
- Full marching band rehearsal will end at 3:00 p.m. today. Demonettes, Debonaires, Majorettes, and the Percussion section will continue to rehearse until 4:00 p.m. today.

Wednesday, September 1st:
- Full marching band rehearsal will end at the conclusion of the school day. Our evening rehearsal at the stadium begins at 5:45 p.m. and ends at 8:00 p.m. We may watch a video of Friday night’s performance. Please remember to wear a white shirt to rehearsal this evening.

Thursday, September 2nd:
- Full marching band rehearsal will end at 3:00 p.m. today. The aux. will finish by 3:45 p.m. “She’s Not There” must be polished before you leave today. ***The Bay bonfire begins at 8:00 p.m. this evening in the parking lot next to Burneson. All students are to report directly to the bonfire area with your instrument no later than 7:45 p.m. WEAR YOUR BAND T-SHIRT!!! Students who need to put their instrument on the music truck to be transported over to Burneson must meet at the high school at 7:15 p.m. to load the truck. Each student must individually put their own instrument on the truck! (You must again go to the HS after the bonfire to take your instrument off the truck.) The bonfire usually ends at approximately 8:30 p.m.

Friday, September 3rd:
- Full marching band rehearsal will end at the conclusion of the school day. All students must report to the high school before 5:30 p.m. in preparation for tonight’s game. The game at Bay Village begins at 7:00 p.m., NOT 7:30 p.m. All students take their own instrument (without the case) on the bus. The tubas and percussion will help the parents load the truck. These students must also report directly to the truck when we return back to the high school after the game. The students should be ready to be picked up at the high school following the game at approximately 10:00 p.m.

Parents: Do not park anywhere near the curb when picking up your son or daughter after the game. The buses need this area to load the students. Please park in a parking space.

Marching Band Rehearsal Videos

On Friday, August 20th, the last rehearsal of summer band camp this year, the marching band practiced at the football stadium for the first time. Here are some videos of that rehearsal. All videos are available in 1080p high definition.

This Friday, August 27th, before the game, there will be a reception in the lobby of the PAC,
where there will be food and drinks. Your families are all invited to join in this event,
and to later make the tunnel for the band before pregame. Band members, don’t forget to
wear your new band t-shirts! The reception starts promptly at 6:00PM! We are looking
forward to all the family members that are going to attend!

Students will be dismissed at the end of the school day (2:30 p.m.) Our first Wednesday night rehearsal begins at 5:45 p.m. Be sure to wear a white t-shirt again to tonight’s rehearsal. All students will be dismissed at 8:00 p.m.

All students are to arrive at the high school this evening before 5:30 p.m. Remember to wear your new band t-shirt on Friday evening when you report to the high school. There are many things that must be taken care of before tonight’s performance. Students are to immediately pick up their uniforms (including a hat) from the officers and report to Mr. Walczuk’s office for a pair of gloves. We will proceed to the PAC lobby for the reception at 6:00 p.m. The families of all the members of the marching band are invited to attend the reception and immediately following proceed to the main entrance to the stadium to form a tunnel as the band parades in. Mr. Rovniak will be at the main gate organizing the tunnel.

Reminders:

  • All sophomores and seniors are to bring cookies (two dozen) to the band room when they arrive at the high school at 5:30 p.m. The cookies are part of the third quarter snack for both marching bands.
  • Only a limited number of parents are needed to chaperone the band each week. Parents are reminded that only those chaperones who were contacted by Mrs. Buck are to assist the band this week. Thank you to everyone for the great response this year! Parent chaperones should report to the music area at approximately the same time as the students.
